It all started when Norman Garfield opened his small store in Cicero in 1951. As the years went by Normans son Bruce talked his dad into letting him work in the family business. At that time no one could have seen where it would end up today. Bruce pushed his father to branch out into other areas throughout the Chicagoland area buying and selling stores for the better part of 30 years. As the second generation took over the Garfield’s had two locations for the better part of two decades operation as Cardinal Wine and Liquors. Much like the generation before it was time for David to come in to the family business.
With David now fully entrenched in the family business, the two of them decided it was time to continue the expansion. In 2008 the Garfields started building new stores as well as acquiring existing locations. The family decided to drop the Cardinal Warehouse name and pay homage to the generations before. The name Garfield’s Beverage Warehouse name was established to help separate the Garfield’s stores from the rest of the Chicagoland Market.
