MILESTONES PAID ADVERTISING The Assisi Animal Foundation of Crystal Lake celebrates its 30th Year of "Saving Animals and Serving People!" The A.A.F built the first no-kill shelter in the area, opening their doors just before Christmas of 1988. It was a day to remember and celebrate, as there were formidable obstacles in achieving that opening and official start. Coming to McHenry County in 1986, the plan was to build a shelter housing cats and dogs in need of rescue. The plan was cut short when the hired contractor simply abandoned the project and disappeared with nearly total payment, and materials that were to be used! The founders building this dream called in local authorities and learned the contractor had not called for needed inspections, two founders, Mrs.Yarosh, a retired business 1987, even before the first shelter building was woman and her daughter, I.Linklater then, complete. They continue these visits today, having teacher. Several wonderful people stepped up een some wonderful results. They also serve that work had to cease, and nearly all be to help. The year was an endless effort of work youngsters with learning visits to classrooms and torn down because of improper work and and hope, but ended in the project being properly young people groups, to emphasize humane values code violations.
