How Do You Operate Your A/C? Very frequently customers ask us "What is the best way to run the A/C?" The surprising fact is that many people have misconceptions on how to use their thermostats, fan cycling, etc. The following list highlights some of the most common myths: MYTH: Lowering the thermostat will cool the house faster. FACT: This is probably the biggest fallacy because the A/C unit needs time (based on outside temperatures) to remove the humidity and lower the temperature. There is no shortcut to accomplish this. A properly sized system can reduce the inside temperature by 2-3 degrees per hour (depending on outside conditions). FACT: Duct tape only seals for a short time, then it dries out and falls off. In new construction the code requires foil tape. In existing homes we recommend Aeroseal patented duct sealing.
